With Appreciated Securities
Many donors prefer to contribute appreciated securities (since you receive the deduction for their current value, and pay no capital gains tax). If you would like to make a gift of appreciated securities held in a brokerage account, please let us know.
Contribute from an IRA or DAF
Individuals age 70 and older are allowed to give to a non-profit up to $100,000 directly from their Individual Retirement Account each year. Unlike other withdrawals, a contribution from an IRA is not subject to ordinary income tax essentially a 100% deduction! The distribution is not included in your income, so you avoid the negative consequences that regular IRA withdrawals in retirement can often create, including taxes on Social Security benefits. (It can also count toward your Required Minimum Distribution.) Always discuss with your financial or tax advisor first.
